초록

본 연구는 국내 외국인 유학생의 급증과 함께 심화되는 중도탈락 문제를 해결하기 위해 교육서
비스품질이 중도탈락의도에 미치는 영향력을 고찰하고, 그 과정에서 대학생활적응의 매개역할
을 실증적으로 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 S대학교 경영대학원에 재학 중인
외국인 유학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 데이터는 SPSS 20.0을 활용하
여 Baron & Kenny의 4단계 매개효과 분석 절차에 따라 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 교육서
비스품질은 중도탈락의도를 낮추는 유의한 부(-)적 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 신뢰성, 반응성, 확
신성 요인의 영향력이 두드러졌다. 둘째, 교육서비스품질의 모든 하위 요인은 대학생활적응을
유의하게 높이는 정(+)적 영향 요인임이 확인되었다. 셋째, 대학생활적응은 중도탈락의도에 통
계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 이에 따라 교육서비스품질과 중도탈락의도 사이에
서 대학생활적응의 매개효과는 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 것으로 판명되었다. 이러한 결과는
외국인 유학생의 중도탈락 방지를 위해 단순히 심리･사회적 적응을 돕는 지원 프로그램을 넘
어, 교육 서비스의 전문성과 신뢰도 제고 등 실질적인 품질 개선이 선행되어야 함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 외국인 유학생의 학업 지속을 결정하는 핵심 기제로서 교육서비스품질의 직접적인
중요성을 입증하였다는 점에서 실무적 의의를 갖는다.

This study empirically investigates the impact of educational service quality on
dropout intention among international students in Seoul, focusing on the mediating
role of university life adjustment. Using Baron and Kenny’s four-step procedure via
SPSS 20.0, the analysis revealed that educational service quality—specifically
reliability, responsiveness, and assurance—significantly reduced dropout intention.
While service quality also significantly improved university life adjustment, the
adjustment itself had no statistically significant effect on dropout intention, leading to
an insignificant mediating effect. These findings suggest that preventing dropouts
requires direct enhancements in educational service expertise and reliability rather
than solely focusing on social adjustment support. This research underscores
educational service quality as a critical mechanism for ensuring the academic
persistence of international students.
