This study aims to understand the educational migration and professional career development of Vietnamese female students and to examine their roles and significance in Korea's multicultural transformation process. Thus, this study conducts an in-depth analysis of the study abroad experiences and work life of Vietnamese female students in Korea, specifically those working at university international exchange offices, using the life history research method. The findings reveal that family support—both economic and emotional—and exposure to Korean culture played significant roles in shaping her motivation to study abroad. Initial adaptation difficulties, language and cultural barriers, and experiences as a student worker were key turning points in her academic and career path. Counseling and mentoring during crises, openness to diverse experiences, and mentoring junior students emerged as core factors for self-directed growth. Through long-term residence and work experience, she developed a complex identity “between Korean and Vietnamese,” expanding her social roles as a student, professional, and family member. This research provides a micro-level perspective on the internationalization of Korean higher education and the transformation of Korean multicultural society through the independent learning and growth experiences of Vietnamese female students. It also suggests directions for policies supporting international students and career development for migrant women.
